Course curriculum
Inside %course-code%: the literacy credit, one text type at a time
Meets the OSSD literacy requirement
Passing OLC4O satisfies the provincial literacy graduation requirement in place of the OSSLT, and the credit can count as your compulsory Grade 11 or Grade 12 English.
Every text type the OSSLT tests
Graphic texts, information texts, narrative texts and news reports on the reading side; main-idea paragraphs, information paragraphs, news reports and opinion essays on the writing side.
Start with a diagnostic, finish with a portfolio
A short diagnostic unit shows where your skills are; learning journals and a literacy portfolio track your growth; a reading log carries a full novel.
No written exam
As an open course, OLC4O is exempt from the mandatory written exam. The final evaluation is a learning journal with audio response and a set of final tasks that consolidate the course.
