BMI3C is the Grade 11 College-preparation marketing course. Students learn how goods, services, and events are marketed: consumer behaviour, market research, branding, the marketing mix (product, price, place, promotion), and emerging trends like digital and social media marketing.
No. BMI3C has no prerequisite, so any student can enrol. It’s a popular, practical business elective for students curious about marketing, entrepreneurship, sports and entertainment, or media.
BMI3C meets the Ministry of Education’s attendance and participation expectations through activities blended directly into the course. OES requires students to log in at least once per week for attendance, and participation activities appear throughout the course and are reflected in the grade book — preserving self-paced flexibility while satisfying the requirements for online courses.
In BMI3C you learn how marketers research consumers, develop products and brands, set prices, choose distribution channels, and build promotional campaigns — including digital and social media marketing. You’ll analyze real campaigns and typically develop a marketing plan of your own.
Yes. BMI3C pairs naturally with Grade 12 business courses at OES like International Business (BBB4M), Business Leadership (BOH4M), and Sports and Entertainment Marketing (IDC4U), and it’s strong preparation for college marketing and business programs and university commerce.
Yes. While universities admit on ENG4U plus math and top-6 marks, BMI3C builds practical marketing literacy that first-year business courses assume, strengthens your understanding of whether business genuinely interests you, and supplies portfolio-style project work you can speak to in applications and interviews.
Yes. Students use BMI3C at OES to lighten a heavy semester, recover a missed credit, or get ahead over a break or the summer. It’s self-paced and open year-round — finish in as little as 4 weeks or spread the work over up to 12 months around your other commitments.
Yes. Ontario students who started Grade 9 in the 2020–21 school year or later must earn at least two online learning credits to graduate, and BMI3C at OES — a Ministry-inspected online school (BSID #667186) — counts toward that requirement. An opt-out process exists through school boards, and specific provisions apply to students affected by the 2021 school closures.
Yes. BMI3C belongs to the business studies group, one of Ontario’s STEM-related course groups — business studies, computer studies, cooperative education, mathematics, science, and technological education. Students entering Grade 9 in 2024 or later must complete one credit from this group among their compulsory credits, and earning BMI3C at OES satisfies that graduation requirement.
Ontario’s Growing Success policy pre-determines the evaluation structure for every credit. Beginning in the 2026–27 school year, BMI3C is graded on classroom work completed throughout the course (65%) plus a Ministry-mandated final evaluation worth 25% for Grades 11–12, with attendance and participation also reflected in the final grade. A credit is granted at 50% or higher — and as an inspected private school, OES may administer final evaluations online, while school-board online courses generally require in-person exam sittings.

I had a great experience using OES for a prerequisite course I needed to attend nursing school. I found it super easy to learn and use the LMS. I highly recommend and if I need U level courses in the future I will definitely get them through OES.
I can pick and choose when I want to work.
Hakan Leonard
Great course, I’ve learned lots and got my necessary credits for college now. I love how I can pick and choose when I want to work and decide when my deadlines are since that’s the most stressful part of traditional schooling for me.
