Why Should You Enroll in an Accessible Online High School?
If you’ve ever considered the advantages of online high school or online learning, you’re not alone! Online learning is expanding quickly! More people are taking advantage of distance learning, particularly self-driven individuals who want to gain a competitive edge. Online education allows you to continue managing your schedule and it’s flexibly when it comes to its course load, which is a big part of its charm. However, a lot of parents are afraid to take this step.
Whether you are a parent or student and want to learn more about the advantages of online high school education and how they compare to a typical brick-and-mortar institution, the following article will help break down the online high school, their benefits, and why it is the best time to enroll before the semester officially begins.
Why Choose an Online School?
Many benefits make enrolling in an online high school a more popular option than ever. The following are just some of the many benefits one can expect from full-time and part-time enrollment in digital Education, such as OES.
Inclusiveness
Social pressures such as feeling the need to “fit in” are one of the things that prevent many kids from excelling in a traditional academic environment. Almost everyone has had this experience at some point in their life, and sadly, bullying is still a problem in schools all around the country, whether physically or verbally. However, for some students, social concerns escalate into bullying, exclusion, or abuse. Bullying is a significant issue in conventional schools. Some families decide to remove their teens from the issue by enrolling them in an online programme when school administrators and other parents choose to ignore a youngster who is being mistreated on school property. Teens who are bullied can find a permanent academic home at online high schools or attend them while their parents look for different public or private schools where their child will be safe.
Online learning is the solution for many pupils. Online learning offers a safe and secure atmosphere for all students, which is one of its most significant benefits. Until their needs for safety and belonging are addressed, students cannot concentrate on their Education. By switching to an online platform, learners report feeling more in charge of their success. Additionally, they experience greater peer acceptance. As a result, one’s confidence is boosted, enabling one to reach their full potential.
Self-Paced Learning
Students typically fall into one of three groups: those who do their work more quickly than others, those who complete it within the allocated time, and those who require more time to complete it successfully. Contrary to what many people think, none of these options are superior to the others. While there is nothing improper with moving quickly (as long as the material is understood), taking extra time to understand assignments doesn’t necessarily indicate low intelligence.
There is no need to keep up with other students when taking self-paced Ontario online high school courses, and you oversee your own education.
Self-paced learning course participants gain a tonne of skills by having to manage a portion of their own educational experience. This is especially true for blended classrooms, which combine a variety of approaches and assessments with teacher-provided course feedback. There are actually so many that we believe each should have its own number.
Most kids don’t excel in all subjects equally. Thus there are likely to be some curriculum topics that are harder than others. Teens can take their time to work through the subjects they don’t understand as well, just as online high schools allow pupils to move rapidly through the lessons they find simple. Students can take advantage of the individualized nature of online schools to move through coursework at a speed that accommodates their shortcomings rather than battling to keep up with the class and possibly falling behind.
Makeup Lost Credits
In conventional schools, it can be challenging for students to catch up on missing credits while still completing the essential coursework. Teenagers may find it simpler to make up courses with the help of adaptable online high schools. If they pursue this route, students have two options: they can either attend their traditional high school and take online classes to make up, or they can finish their curriculum entirely online.
Students That Are Motivated Can Succeed
Teenagers that are driven don’t have to be held back by courses that generally take four years to finish, thanks to online learning. Instead, they can enrol in an online high school that enables pupils to complete classes as rapidly as they can. This has allowed many alumni of online high schools to finish their degrees and enter college one or two years earlier than their colleagues.
The idea that online high schools are an “easy way out” is one of their most pervasive fallacies. In actuality, the reverse is true. OES provides high-calibre, reasonably priced online courses that aid students in catching up or moving ahead, such as Grade 12 Advanced Functions MHF4U.
The same exacting requirements that go into developing a traditional curriculum are employed in the design of our courses. Seasoned, credentialed instructors support the teaching of these courses. Additionally, they respond to inquiries online and offer advice and criticism. Although courses can be taken at their own pace, which is another advantage of online learning for high school students, they are still rigorous. That is ensured by the comprehensive accreditation procedure online colleges go through.
Programs that Ready you for life
Freshman college student’s lack of academic readiness for the “real world” is one of the main criticisms of professors who teach them. While many of the comments are about students’ study habits and general ability to prioritize, some of them are academic in origin. Students in a regular high school still receive a lot of direction, as teachers continue to “hold their hands” a lot. They walk students through the content, give assignments, check-in, and are really interested in preventing failure.
Despite the good intentions, college isn’t the place for this. This is particularly true for college students taking online courses. While breaking this link can be tough, this is one advantage of online learning. Although professors are there to offer advice, support, and evaluation, students are still required to be accountable for their academic experiences. This is advantageous. It will help you develop your leadership and time management abilities. Additionally, it will improve your ability to communicate and adjust. Students will be prepared to use everything they have learned when they graduate from high school and enter college or the workforce.
Flexible Enrollments
The extended enrollment term is without a doubt one of the top advantages of online high school. Because they missed the entry deadline, many public school graduates are unable to enrol in private schools. There is no need to wait until August if a student discovers that they require an alternate school choice in the middle of the school year. OES and other online high schools don’t operate in this manner.
This is one of the other unrivalled advantages of online high school education if you’re seeking summer enrichment opportunities for yourself or your student. Summer courses are typically not offered by traditional high schools. Those that do frequently limit their distribution to failing pupils. Enrolling in authorized courses outside of the typical academic calendar that most universities provide is a great method to advance your career.
A student can sign up for an online course at any time at Ontario eSecondary (OES), an online high school that the Ministry of Education has inspected. Once registered, individuals can work at their own pace and on their own schedule throughout the twelve months we give each course. In other words, a student could finish the course in 4 weeks, 12 months, or whenever they like! The Ontario curriculum expectations are covered in all our online courses through interactive information, PowerPoint presentations, videos, PDFs, and qualified instructors.
Graduate Early
A logical extension of numbers three and five is number six on our list. Early graduation is frequently attainable because summer courses are offered, and the courses are self-paced. This is one of the most frequently cited arguments made by teenagers for why online Education is preferable. There is, of course, no need to speed through high school. However, for students who need to finish early, just having the option is a benefit in and of itself. Many institutions are offering self-paced undergraduate and graduate programmes following suit. This only increases the benefits of attending an online school. Even in high school, students are being prepared for their futures.
Accessibility for All
Many factors can prevent some pupils from succeeding in a typical classroom. Managing a chronic sickness or handicap is one of them. For instance, a high school student with a mobility problem can find it challenging to move about physically demanding schools. Students who take classes online don’t have to worry about travelling to and from class or getting around during the day. Students don’t have to be concerned about missing doctor appointments either because they are allowed to learn and advance at their own pace.
Numerous thousands of pupils have similar experiences. They are given a chance to finish their Education, which would not be possible otherwise. Others battle conditions like ADHD or a learning handicap. Then there are some who have cancer or another ailment that necessitates a flexible schedule or social isolation. Understanding why an online high school is superior is obvious for these students.
Online Schooling is Reliable
We have learnt that things can change in an instant, particularly over the past few years. Physical schools have constraints that make closing the only option, whether it’s because of inclement weather cancellations, illness, or mandated school closures.
Students may fall behind academically if this occurs throughout the academic year. Online platforms do not work like this. Institutions like OES are already ahead of the curve as more and more schools rush to implement online learning. These sad incidents undoubtedly influence the lives of our pupils, but they can still attend class. In times of uncertainty, this is frequently a necessary diversion.
About OES
The Ontario eSecondary School (OES) is a private asynchronous Ministry-inspected high school that provides the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) diploma as well as course credits. All public high schools, universities, and institutions recognize our credits.
The difference between synchronous vs asynchronous learning is that synchronous lessons take place in a set time, bringing together instructors and students from various places. Students who attend asynchronous classes can access class materials at different times and from different places, and the schedule is more flexible.
Our online high school courses are entirely online and are certified by the same bodies that certify traditional schools. They are adaptable enough to accommodate your hectic schedule, allowing you to take classes on your own time. They’re also convenient enough to allow you to work at your own pace!
Our online courses are all designed with you, the student, in mind. Our writers and developers are competent and skilled in their disciplines. Each course is subjected to a quality assurance review by our Principal, who is OCT certified and holds a master’s in Education. Assignments and quizzes are labelled with Assessment of Learning (AOL), Assessment for Learning (AFL), or Assessment as Learning (AAL) throughout the course, in accordance with the Ontario Ministry of Education Growing Success Document, to ensure that the content is clearly labelled for students who work through. Students submit productive work, solutions, and written projects online through our clearly labelled submission box when necessary.
To add the course to the list of courses on the Ontario Student Transcript, Ontario eSecondary (OES) will mail official embossed copies of the final report card to the student’s home address and to the student’s home school after the course is completed (OST). It is the duty of that publicly funded or private school to update the transcript if the Ontario Student Record (OSR) is kept by the institution (OST).
